Comedy of the spirit
short animated video series commisioned for east slovak gallery. 2025.
The project reimagines Anton Jasusch’s unperformed 1925 play Comedy of the Spirit through a fictional theatre staging presented as a video series created for the permanent exhibition of the East Slovak Gallery in Košice, Slovakia. Drawing on historical references such as early xenotransplantation experiments and theories of post-transplant identity transformation, the videos explore ethical questions surrounding human technological progress, memory, and selfhood. Through surreal scenography inspired by various artworks by Slovak artists and symbolic motifs, the project creates a dreamlike environment in which the play’s themes of transience, transformation, and cultural reflection unfold.
